805 persons make effort against one train ticket

Bangladesh Railway on Friday began online sales of advance train tickets for holidaymakers on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr from Dhaka to other routes where at least 805 persons made efforts against one ticket on average.

According to the preannounced schedule, the railway authority commenced the online sale of advance train tickets for 8 April around 8 am and a total of 14,000 tickets were sold in the first one hour.

Sandeep Debnath, chief operating officer of shohoz.com, told the media on Friday that around 1.28 crore people accessed the country’s largest online ticket app within half an hour of the beginning of the sale.

The online sale of advance train tickets for the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr began on 24 March and the passengers were advised to purchase the tickets for April 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and April 9 on March 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29 and March 30 respectively.

A total of 33,500 tickets for intercity trains will be sold every day, according to the schedule, according to a press release of the railway ministry.

Besides, one-fourth standing tickets against the total seat of the non-ac compartment will also be sold. On the other hand, the selling of return tickets will begin on April 3.

Eight pairs of special trains will be run this year, it said.

To ensure a hassle-free service for passengers in the holy month of Ramadan, cent percent of railway tickets will be available online at the Bangladesh Railway website https://eticket.railway.gov.bd or mobile app.
