Chattogram: A 30-year-old man was crushed under the wheels of a Chittagong University (CU) shuttle train in Hathazari upazila of Chattogram on Wednesday.
The deceased was Md Yeasin, son of Ataur Rahman of Paharika Residential Area of Fatehpur union un-der the upazila.
Witnesses Tushar and Sohanur said Yeasin boarded the city-bound shuttle train from the university sta-tion at 2:30pm.
He tried to cross the trail tracks by jumping through the open space between two bogies when the train paused at Chowdhuryhat Junction. He accidently fell on the train tracks and was crushed under the wheels when the train started to run, they said.
He was first taken to Fatehabad Clinic and later shifted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital where physicians declared him dead upon arrival, said Nurul Alam Asheq, in-charge of the hospital police out-post.
The body was kept at the hospital morgue for autopsy, he added.
