Narail: Police have arrested two of the accused in a case filed over the murder of a village policeman over previous enmity in Lohagara upazila of Narail.
Bakul Sheikh, 42, of Kumri Purbapara of the upazila and a village policeman of Dighalia union, was returning from a shop on the night of May 28, when he was indiscriminately stabbed by miscreants with sharp weapons.
He was taken to Lohagara Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
Acting on a tip-off on Friday, Lohagara police arrested Ajmal Sheikh (30) and Rubel Sheikh (35) from Digichar area of Gopalganj district on Friday afternoon, said Nasir Uddin, officer-in-charge of Lohagara Police Station.
According to the information provided by them, a knife used in the murder was recovered from a palm orchard near the scene of the incident.
Ajmal Sheikh gave a confessional statement in the court under Section 164 on Friday night, said the OC.
Bakul’s son Ramzan Sheikh filed the case with the police station accusing seven people, he added.
