Khagrachhari: A case has been filed against more than 350 Awami League leaders and activists in con-nection with the attack and vandalism of BNP Vice Chairman Abdullah Al Noman’s car in Kha-grachhari.
Ratan Kumar Tripura, Assistant Legal Affairs Secretary of the district BNP, filed the case at the Khagra-chari Chief Judicial Magistrate Court on Sunday.
The case was filed mentioning names of 103 accused including KM Ismail Hossain, general secretary of district Jubo League and 250 unnamed ones.
Advocate Bedarul Islam confirmed the development and said the court has taken the case into cognisance and issued an order to the Officer-in-Charge of Khagrachhari Sadar Police Station, to initiate legal ac-tions accordingly.
However, Md. Arifur Rahman, the Officer-in-Charge of Sadar Police Station, said that he has not re-ceived any official instruction in this regard as of yet.
A clash erupted between activists of the Awami League and BNP on May 26 in the town when the car of BNP’s Abdullah Al Noman was vandalized. Several activists from both sides sustained injuries during the clash.
