Man to die for killing stepbrother in Kushtia

A Correspondent:

Kushtia: A Kushtia court on Monday sentenced a man to death in a case over the killing of his step brother in Daulatpur upazila of Kushtia around two years back.
Kushtia District and Sessions Judge Court Judge Ruhul Amin awarded the sentence in presence of the accused, said the court’s Public Prosecutor Advocate Anup Kumar Nandy.
Also, the court exempted an accused Sohel Rana from the charges in the case as the allegations brought against him were not proved.
The convict is Milon Hossain, 38, son of Nandu Mandol of Jamalpur Kandipara village under the upazila.
According to the case statement, there had long been a dispute between Milon and his step-brother Famid Hossain over paternal properties.
The accused stabbed Famid with sharp weapons when he was taking tea at a stall at their village on April 11, 2021. The impact of the incident left him dead on the spot.
The victim’s wife Rozina Khatun filed a murder case accusing Milon with Daulatpur police station later.
Police submitted the chargesheet against the accused on September 26 in the same year of the incident.
After examining testimonies from 9 witnesses and completing legal procedures, the court handed down the judgment in presence of Milon.
