Information and Broadcasting Minister Hasan Mahmud on Wednesday said that the government has a plan to restore order in the operation of online news portals.
The minister said this in parliament replying to a tabled question from Jatiya Party MP elected from Kishoreganj Mujibul Haque Chunnu.
The information minister said, Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC )has been requested through the Department of Posts and Telecommunications to cancel the domain allocation of 239 online news portals that are tarnishing the image of the country by spreading false and fabricated news.
Apart from this, if there is a complaint of spreading false and fabricated news in any online newspaper or online portal, steps are taken to stop it, the minister also said.
