Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Larvov has praised Bangladesh for not budging from its position despite tremendous pressure of the United States and its allies.
Larvov made the remark while attending a joint press conference with Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen at Hotel Intercontinental in the capital Thursday evening.
He also assured that Russia will play a supportive role in finding an acceptable solution to Rohingya crises.
Lavrov said external pressure on Bangladesh regarding next polls and other issues is not acceptable.
The Russian FM said his country is keen to enhance cooperation in trade issues which include LNG.
Earlier in the evening, Larvov arrived in Dhaka airport where Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen received him.
He will hold meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Friday morning.
