The by-election to the Dhaka-17 constituency, the seat has been vacated after the death of actor Akbar Hossain Pathan Farooque, will be held on July 17. The seat consisting of Gulshan, Banani and Cantonment of the capital will be voted on ballot.
Election Commission Secretary Md Jahangir Alam announced the by-election schedule on Thursday afternoon.
According to the announced schedule, the last date for submission of nomination papers is on June 15. Selection of nomination papers is on June 18. Last date for withdrawal of candidature is on June 25 and finally the polling will be held on July 17.
Actor Akbar Hossain Pathan Farooque, Member of Parliament for Dhaka-17 Constituency, died while undergoing treatment at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore on May 15.
