AL factional clash halts traffic on Dhaka-Ctg highway

Cumilla: At least 30 people sustained injuries in a clash between two factions of ruling Awami League (AL) in Chauddagram upazila of Cumilla district on Tuesday morning.
Traffic on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway remained suspended for nearly an hour thanks to the clash.
Chauddagram police station Officer-in-Charge Shuvo Ranjan Chakma said that the clash ensued between the supporters of former Railway Minister Mujibul Haque and former municipal mayor Mizanur Rah-man when the two groups tried to bring out protest procession and hold meeting at the same time on Monday morning over the death threat to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, leaving at least 30 people in-jured.
Police are on the spot to control the situation.
A tense situation has been prevailing in the area, he added.
