Awami League general secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader termed BNP as a parasite in the country’s politics on Saturday saying that the party will have no existence in politics in the upcoming days.
He was addressing a street rally at Bangabandhu Chattar at Kabirhat Bazar in the Feni district on Saturday afternoon.
Quader said: “BNP has been eliminated in the game of politics as it was shown a red card for committing foul.”
Pointing to BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman, the Awami League general secretary said: “A convicted criminal is leading BNP from London through the remote control system.”
“Tarique called a non-cooperation movement but the people are making non-cooperation with him,” he added.
Addressing the voters, he sought votes in favour of the boat in the 12th national parliamentary election slated on January 7, 2024, to save democracy to bring Sheikh Hasina into power again.
Highlighting development activities that took place in his constituency, he said: “Kabirhat was once deprived of development but now it has been witnessing enormous progress including infrastructural development in the last 15 years.”
Feni District Awami League general secretary Nizam Uddin Hazari, Noakhali-2 lawmaker Morshed Alam, Noakhali-4 lawmaker Ekramul Karim Chowdhury, Kabirhat upazila Awami League President Mohammad Ibrahim and General Secretary Jahirul Haque Raihan were present.
Earlier, Obaidul Quader carried out election campaigns in Basurhat, Shantirhat, Rangmala Bazar, Bangla Bazar, Peshkarhat, Natun Bazar, Tekerbazar and surrounding areas under his constituency.
