A Dhaka court yesterday allowed police to interrogate BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Ala-mgir and standing committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury at jail gate for two days in a sabotage case filed with capital’s Paltan Police Station.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rajesh Chowdhury passed the order, scrapping bail plea filed for the two BNP leaders. Earlier the court allowed a police plea to show them arrested in the case.
Investigation officer and Paltan Model Police Station sub-inspector Sumit Kumar Saha on December 14 filed the plea to show Fakhrul and Khasru arrested in the case and placed them on 10-day remand. The court on that day had set yesterday to hear the pleas.
Detective branch (DB) of police arrested Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir from his Gulshan residence on October 29. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shafi Uddin sent him to jail in a case lodged over attack on the official residence of Chief Justice (CJ) during BNP’s grand rally in the city’s Nayapaltan area on Oc-tober 28.
Police in the early hours of November 3 picked up Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury from his Gulshan flat. He was placed on six-day remand in a case lodged over murder of police constable Amirul Islam Pervej on October 28.
