FM in Kuwait to convey PM’s deep condolence

Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen to leave here for Kuwait today to convey deep condolence of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina over the death of Kuwait Emir Sheikh Nawaf al-Ahmad al-Sabah.
The foreign minister to return on the next day, December 19, a Foreign Ministry official told yesterday.
Sheikh Nawaf, whose six-decade career in public service primarily focused on domestic issues, was bur-ied yesterday following a prayer service in Kuwait.
The ruling emir of oil-rich Kuwait died on Saturday at the aged 86 after three years in power marked by repeated political disputes.
Following Sheikh Nawaf’s death, his half-brother, Crown Prince Sheikh Meshaal al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah, 83, was swiftly named the new emir.
