Staff Reporter:

Awami League (AL) Joint General Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim yesterday said people of the coun-try will cast their vote in favor of their preferred candidates in the upcoming general election slated for January 7, 2024.
“Many candidates will participate in the election as independent candidates. The election will be held amid festivity and enthusiasm,” he said, adding AL wants a participatory, free, and neutral election.
He made the remarks as the chief guest while addressing the inaugural function of the Hepatitis B im-munization program organized by Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) at city’s Segun Bagicha.
Mentioning that Awami League is discussing with alliances of the 14-party and Jatiya Party centering the upcoming national election, he said, “We are hoping that all registered political parties will participate in the upcoming national election,” he added.
With the dynamic and prudent leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh has made stun-ning progress in the last 15 years, he mentioned.
President of Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) Syed Shukur Ali presided over the function while its Gen-eral Secretary Mohiuddin conducted the event. Former Secretary of Youth and Sports Ministry and Of-ficers Club General Secretary Mesbaha Uddin also took part in the discussion.
