Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been asked to hoist signal number two as the severe cyclonic storm ‘MICHAUNG’ over the West central Bay and adjoining area moved north-northwestwards further.
“The Severe Cyclonic Storm “MICHAUNG” is likely to move North-northwestwards and may cross South Andhra Pradesh coast between Nellore and Machilipatnam yesterday,” said a special weather bul-letin issued by the BMD this morning.
“Maximum sustained wind speed within 64 km of the cyclone centre is about 90 kph rising to 110 kph in gusts or squalls. Sea will remain very rough near the severe cyclone centre,” it added.
“Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted dis-tant warning signal number two. All fishing boats and trawlers over the North Bay and deep Sea have been advised to remain closed to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice,” the bulletin fur-ther added.
However, a separate sea bulletin predicted that rain with thundershowers is likely to occur over the North Bay and adjoining areas under the peripherals of the severe cyclonic storm ‘MICHAUNG’.
