Contraband worth Tk 183cr seized in Nov

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized arms, ammunition, drugs and other contraband items worth over Tk 183.98 crore during anti-smuggling drives across the country, especially in bordering areas, in No-vember.
In October, BGB seized contraband items worth Tk 165.15 crore.
In November, the paramilitary force seized 14,77,908 yaba pills, 6.590 kg crystal meth, 11,226 bottles of phensedyl, 26,588 bottles of foreign liquor, 4,800 cans of beer, 1,955 kg cannabis, 46.342 kg heroin, 86,744 packets of cigarettes and bidi etc, said a BGB media release signed by its Public Relations Officer Md Shariful Islam on Monday.
Other smuggled items included 27.40 kg gold, 8.280 kg silver, 1,41,914 cosmetics, 2,558 imitation jew-ellery, 16,635 sarees, 20,456 three-pieces/shirts/bed sheets/blankets, 3,413 cft timber, 2,943 kg of tea leaves, 2,09,997 kg of coal, 200 square feet of stone, seven trucks, six pickup vans, one covered van, 30 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 60 motorbikes.
Seized arms include two pistols, two guns of several types, nine crude bombs and 136 rounds of bullets.
Meanwhile, BGB arrested 178 alleged smugglers, 20 for crossing the border illegally, two Indian nation-als and 150 Myanmar nationals.
