Woman who criticized govt granted bail

A Correspondent:

Mymensingh: A Mymensingh court on Wednesday granted bail to Sathi Akter, who was arrested in Bhaluka upazila on October 25 amid protests by local BNP leaders and activists after she expressed frustration with the government during a Facebook Live.
Judge Sajidul Islam of the Chief Judicial Magistrate in Mymensingh granted her bail on a bond of Tk 500, said court Inspector Mostasinur Rahman.
She was later released from jail.
Mostasinur said Sathi was brought to the court around 12:30pm. Lawyer Mahtab Uddin Ahmed represented her during the hearing.
On October 25, Sathi, daughter of Amjad Ali, went live twice on Facebook through an account named “Sathi Makeover”.
In the two videos, lasting 5 minutes 22 seconds and 8 minutes 8 seconds, respectively, she expressed frustration over the theft of electrical wires from her business premises. At one point, she was heard saying, “I am suffering yesterday for having voted for the BNP.”
After the videos went viral, local BNP leaders and activists gathered outside her business premises, demanding “justice”.
As tensions escalated, police took her into custody around 8:30pm that day.
Sathi was subsequently shown arrested under Section 151 of the Code of Criminal Procedure and produced before the court the following day.
She runs a business called “Sathi Beauty Parlour” at Khadija Palace Market in the Square Masterbari area of Bhaluka upazila.
