Commuters on Gohail Road in Bogura city are suffering from potholes, water logging and broken up for
drainage work, while the main road renovation has made little progress nearly four months after the
project began.
The road, from Satmatha to Phultala, is being upgraded under a World Bank-funded project. As the full
project is scheduled to be completed in November next year, local residents, passengers and vehicle
drivers have demanded immediate repairing of the road.
The work is being implemented by Bogura City Corporation under the Resilient Urban and Regional
Development Project (RUTDP) of the Local Government Engineering Department. The work began on
May 27 and is scheduled to be completed by November 26, 2027.
But the main road work has yet to make significant progress. At different points, the road has been dug up
for drain construction. Half-built drains, soil and brick chips are lying beside the road, making the already
damaged road more difficult and risky to use.
