The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) yesterday issued a warning against Facebook pages and groups that are operated using the name, logo and official identity of the directorate without authorization.
The authorities have warned that legal action will be taken against the concerned individuals if such pages or groups are not shut down within the next seven days.
The information was disclosed in a warning notice issued by the DSHE.
According to the notice, various individuals have been using the name, identity, logo or emblem of the DSHE to operate unauthorized pages and groups where misleading information regarding official matters, as well as obscene, defamatory and anti-state statements, are being published.
Such activities are creating confusion among the teachers, officials and the general public and tarnishing the image of the DSHE, the notice said.
The DSHE said it has only one official Facebook page, identified as “Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education-DSHE”, at the Facebook address mentioned in the notice.
The authorities warned that if the fake pages and groups do not cease all activities within seven days, legal action will be taken under the existing laws without any further warning.
