Mirza Abbas on remand in sabotage case

A court here yesterday placed BNP standing committee member Mirza Abbas on five-day remand in a case filed under sabotage and explosives substances act with the capital’s Shahjahanpur Police Station.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shafi Uddin passed the order as police produced the senior BNP leader before the court and pleaded to place him on five-day remand in the case.
Police arrested Abbas on Tuesday night from his Shahjahanpur home.
Earlier on October 29, sub-inspector Mostafizur Rahman of Shahjahanpur Police Station filed the case against Mirza Abbas and 48 others. Another 700 to 800 unnamed people were made accused in the case.
