AL’s ‘peace rally’ held in capital

Awami League (AL) and its associate bodies yesterday brought out protest processions and rallies in dif-ferent areas in the city against the BNP-Jamaat’s 72-hour blockade.
AL General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader had earlier urged the party leaders and activists to hold peaceful programs against the three-day nationwide blockade enforced by BNP and Jamaat.
The AL Senior leaders are staying alert against BNP`s blockade program at the central office of AL at Bangabandhu Avenue and AL President Sheikh Hasina`s political office at Dhanmondi. Besides, the AL leaders are activists held programs at different areas, including Farmgate, Mirpur, Gabtoli, Jatrabari, Azimpur and Shahbagh.
Dhaka city north unit of AL brought out a protest procession in city`s Mirpur, Darussalam Mohammad-pur and other areas.
Awami Jubo League brought out a protest procession in city`s Bangabandhu Avenue and the procession paraded different streets.
Demra and Jatrabari Thana AL brought out a procession and Awami Swechchhasebak League brought out another procession in city.
Dhaka city south AL President Abu Ahmed Mannafi and its general secretary Humayun Kabir, Joint General Secretaries Miraz Hossain and Mohiuddin Ahmed Mohi, Organizing Secretary Golam Sarowar Kabir and Office Secretary Riaz Uddin, among others, were present at Bangabandhu Avenue.
AL Dhaka city north unit president Sheikh Bazlur Rahman and its general secretary S.M. Mannan Kochi with other leaders and activists were also present.
Md. Habib Hassan, MP, Dhaka city north AL industry and commerce affairs secretary Md. Khusru Chowdhury, Uttar Purbo Thana AL President Md. Kutubur Rahman, 53 No ward councilor Md. Nasir Uddin and 51 No ward councilor Md. Sharifur Rahman brought out a protest procession in the city’s Uttara.
Besides, Awami League, Jubo League, Chhatra League, Swechchhasebak League, Mohila Awami League and different ward, Thana AL leaders and workers brought out protest rally in city’s Uttara area.
