MOSCOW, 20 JULY 2026 (Net) – More than 400 drones targeted the Moscow region overnight, the Russian capital’s mayor said on Monday, adding that most of them had been intercepted.
“From 8:30 pm (1730 GMT) until 5:00 am, more than 400 enemy drones were flying in the direction of Moscow region. Most were neutralised by air defence forces at distant approaches. 85 UAVs were de-stroyed on approach to Moscow,” Sergei Sobyanin wrote on the state-backed MAX platform.
Kyiv has in recent months intensified its strikes on Russian territory, describing them as retribution for more than four years of bombardments against its territory.
Russia’s TASS state news agency separately reported on Monday that six people, including three foreign-ers, have been hospitalised with blast injuries in the Moscow region.
“Six people with blast injuries of varying severity have been taken to Domodedovo Hospital, three of them foreign nationals,” the hospital said in a statement, quoted by TASS.
It was unclear if the injuries were linked to the drone attacks.
Domodedovo is to the south of Moscow and home to an international airport serving the Russian capital.
