Prime Minister’s Adviser and his Office Spokesperson Dr. Mahdi Amin yesterday outlined five initia-tives taken by the student-friendly government to ensure the ongoing Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations are held in a fair, smooth and safe environment.
In a post on his verified Facebook page yesterday afternoon, the adviser disclosed details of the initia-tives.
He said the HSC and equivalent examinations were held yesterday (Wednesday) in a peaceful and order-ly atmosphere at 2,583 examination centers across the country, except under the Chattogram Education Board.
He said students participated in the examinations with enthusiasm and motivation alongside a significant improvement in the weather.
In his Facebook post, the Prime Minister’s adviser elaborated on the government’s five timely student-friendly initiatives.
Firstly, based on the opinions of all divisional commissioners, deputy commissioners, police superinten-dents, chairmen of education boards, officials of the Bangladesh Meteorological Department and other stakeholders, the government decided to continue the examinations as scheduled for all education boards except the Chattogram Education Board, giving priority to the interests of a large number of students.
Secondly, local administrations have been instructed to take necessary decisions, depending on the situa-tion, including immediate relocation of examination centers, postponement of examinations or extension of examination time if transportation disruptions or water logging create problems during the examinations.
Thirdly, students who were unable to sit for any subject of the ongoing HSC and equivalent examina-tions due to adverse weather or other unavoidable reasons will be allowed to take the examination on the same date and at the same time using the identical question paper for the corresponding subject that has already been postponed under the Chattogram Education Board.
Fourthly, all examinees will be awarded full marks for the relevant question in the creative section of the Physics First Paper examination held on July 13 due to errors and inconsistencies in the question paper.
Fifthly, those involved in preparing the erroneous Physics First Paper question paper have already been suspended temporarily.
To the Prime Minister of the current government, the HSC is not merely an examination but a crucial milestone in shaping the future of those who will build Bangladesh.
He said that under the Prime Minister’s directives, the government is making every effort with the ut-most sincerity and responsibility to conduct the examinations properly.
Ensuring the welfare of students and the continuity of their education is one of the foremost priorities of the democratic state in this endeavor, he added.
