Zubaida encourages women to be entrepreneurs

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s wife Dr Zubaida Rahman has encouraged women entrepreneurs to establish small, cottage, and medium industries, and promote womenfolk on the basis of merit to achieve self-reliance.
“Women must be provided with necessary training, development opportunities, and marketing support. This would help increase family prosperity, ensure children’s education, and make it easier to achieve poverty alleviation goals,” she said.
Zubaida Rahman was speaking as the chief guest at the annual gathering and fair of Bangladesh Police Women’s Welfare Association (PUNAK) at Rajarbagh Police Lines yesterday on the occasion of Police Week 2026.
Noting that PUNAK members are contributing to society at various levels through their tireless efforts, she said, “Through your work, you are helping guide the next generation toward contributing to socie-ty.”
She said if everyone contributes in their respective fields toward building the desired society, then that goal can certainly be achieved.
Zubaida Rahman said women can play a central role in family welfare and social progress by participat-ing in healthcare and rural development. Development of women also can help ensure the safety and development of girl children, she said.
Home minister’s spouse Hasina Ahmed, home affairs senior secretary’s spouse Rawshan Ara Shilpi and Cultural Affairs Secretary Kaniz Moula attended the event as guests while PUNAK Vice-President Sabina Awlad was in the chair.
Scholarships and certificates were distributed among meritorious students and computer trainees.
PUNAK Satkhira chapter won the first place in the fair while Rajshahi chapter stood second and Lalm-onirhat became third.
Zubaida Rahman handed over the certificates and prizes to the outstanding students and winning PUNAK stall representatives.
The program was followed by a colorful cultural event.
