34 flights cancelled today at Shahjalal, 210 in six days

Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport saw 34 flights cancelled on Thursday (5 March) due to the escalating war situation in the Middle East, bringing the total number of cancellations over the past six days to 210.

Kausar Mahmud, Public Relations Officer of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB), confirmed the development.

Among Thursday’s cancelled flights were four from Qatar Airways, four from Kuwait Airways, four from Jazeera Airways (Kuwait), ten from Air Arabia (Sharjah, UAE), four from Emirates, two from US-Bangla Airlines, two from Gulf Air (Bahrain), and four from FlyDubai (UAE).

Mahmud said that following the security situation in the Middle East on 28 February, countries including Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, the UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, and Jordan had closed their airspace.

According to CAAB data, the daily cancellations at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport were as follows: 23 flights on 28 February, 40 on 1 March, 46 on 2 March, 39 on 3 March, and 28 on 4 March.

Passengers are advised to stay in close contact with their airlines for updates on rescheduled flights.
