Chief Adviser of the interim government Dr Muhammad Yunus greeted the nation with “Eid Mubarak” after casting his vote on Thursday, describing the election day as a moment of joy and a new beginning for Bangladesh.
He made the remarks on Thursday morning after casting his vote at the Gulshan Model High School and College polling centre in the capital.
“Today is a day of great joy; it marks the start of a new celebration,” he told reporters.
“From today, we have the opportunity to build a new Bangladesh at every level. Let us celebrate this day throughout. I urge everyone to take part and cast their votes in the referendum.”
Dr Yunus emphasised that both the election of candidates and the referendum were important. “The referendum is very significant,” he said, calling on citizens to participate in shaping the country’s future.
“Today is a day of joy and liberation for the people of Bangladesh. It is the end of our nightmare and the beginning of new dreams. I congratulate everyone—Eid Mubarak,” he added.
