Rapists can’t have any political identity: Fakhrul

Staff Reporter:

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir yesterday expressed deep concern and strongly condemned and protested the rape incident in Cumilla’s Muradnagar.
“The criminals who abuse women cannot have any political identity. They are enemies of human civili-zation. I immediately call for exemplary punishment for the miscreants who raped and tortured the wife of a Hindu expatriate,” he said in a statement.
In the statement, Fakhrul said, “The brutal, shameful, disgusting and barbaric incident of rape and tor-ture of Hindu woman shocked the people of the country. However, a malicious group is involved in a deep conspiracy to politically divert the incident cowardly”.
“Like the fascist era, the practice of occupying and torturing the homes of minorities and blaming others is still going on. The miscreants are indulged in various anti-social misdeeds after getting exposed,” he said.
“The molestation and violence against Hindu woman in Muradnagar is inhuman, brutal and a pretext to fulfill the political goals of a particular group. Once again, the dirty tricks of Awami League to destroy communal harmony and gain political benefits are being repeated,” said the BNP secretary general.
Even after the fall of Sheikh Hasina’s regime, instead of bringing back the tradition of harmony, such incidents are being perpetrated and harmony is being destroyed to achieve political goals,” he said.
“Meanwhile, the accomplices of the fallen regime are well-equipped with money. They are engaged in dangerous conspiracy to destroy the image of BNP by carrying out secret campaigns of violent terrorism including violence against women,” said Fakhrul.
“The miscreants are encouraged to carry out violent activities because they have the blessings of the powerful forces. However, for the sake of truth, honor and self-respect, everyone, regardless of religion, race or group, must resist the evildoers to build a healthy society and a safe state,” he said.
