COX’S BAZAR, Apr 26: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on early Wednesday arrested three people including a top drug smuggler alongwith 21kg of crystal meth, known as ice, from Cox’s Bazar.
A team of BGB 34 battalion arrested three people with the drugs from Balukhali cyclone shelter area of the upazila, said Lieutenant Colonel Saiful Islam Chowdhury, chief of the battalion.
Tipped off that a drug consignment from Myanmar was being smuggled into Bangladesh, the BGB team conducted the drive and arrested three persons including ‘Yaba Godfather’ Buzrukh, said BGB public relation officer Md Shariful Islam on Wednesday.
Two other arrested men are Md Ismail, 23, and Saiyadul Bashar, 40.
This is the biggest-ever consignment of crystal meth seized in the country, according to a press release sent by the force.
A case has been filed with Ukhiya Police Station in connection with the incident, Shariful added.
