BNP urges interim govt to prioritize polls-related reforms

Staff Reporter:

BNP Standing Committee member Dr Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain yesterday called upon the interim government to prioritize election-related reforms for holding free, fair and acceptable national polls soon.
He was addressing a discussion titled “No alternative to elections to protect independence, sovereignty and establish sustainable democracy”, organized by the National People’s Party (NPP) at the Jatiya Press Club here.
Khandaker Mosharraf said a deep-rooted conspiracy is being hatched in the country.
“. . . Sheikh Hasina is hatching conspiracy from India and India is instigating it,” he added.
Demanding quick reforms, he said it is not possible for a government to carry out all reforms by setting any specific timeframe.
“You begin the reform works. Later, the elected government will take it forward,” he added.
He underscored the need for making united efforts to resist the neighboring country’s conspiracy to es-tablish their supremacy.
‘Jatiyatabadi Samamona Jote’ coordinator and NPP Chairman Fariduzzaman Farhad chaired the discus-sion which was conducted by the party’s Secretary General Mostafizur Rahman Mostafa.
Leaders of component parties of the alliance – Jatiya Ganotantrik Party’s (Jagpa) Khandaker Lutfar Rah-man, Bangladesh Ganotantrik Party Chairman SM Shahadat Hossain, Democratic League (DL) General Secretary Khokon Chandra Das, Samyabadi Dal’s Syed Nurul Islam, NPP’s Zahir Hossain Hakim and Nabi Chowdhury spoke, among others.
