Unity a must to rebuild Bangladesh: Tarique

Staff Reporter:

BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has underscored the need for national unity to rebuild Bangladesh with the people, regardless of their party affiliations, defying all conspiracies and disparities.

“Conspiracy is still going on. We have no alternative but to remain united. We will build a new Bangladesh involving people irrespective of their party affiliations and focusing on their merits,” said the BNP leader on Thursday.

The people have ousted the autocratic ruler, and now it is time to lead Bangladesh toward prosperity, he said while virtually addressing a function ahead of the final match of the Shaheed Zia Memorial Football Tournament.

Lalmonirhat district unit of BNP organised the tournament held at Barobari Shaheed Abul Kashem College ground in Lalmonirhat Sadar Upazila on Thursday.

“Now we need cooperation from everyone to build the country in the coming days. Our goal is to build a prosperous and beautiful Bangladesh with cooperation of people from all walks of life,” he said.

Claiming that Bangladesh has talented doctors, engineers, and professionals in various fields, he said that if voted into power, BNP will also focus on nurturing professional athletes and cultural activists from the next generation.

Tarique said that he would take all necessary initiatives to develop the skills of sportsmen, enabling them to bring honour to the country by representing Bangladesh in global sports events.

Chaired by Asadul Habib Dulu, organising secretary of Rangpur division, BNP Standing Committee Member Mirza Abbas, Joint Secretary General Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie and Wahid Uddin Chowdhury Happy, assistant vice president Bangladesh Football Federation, among others, spoke on the occasion.

Leaders and activists of BNP and its different front and associate bodies were also present at the football ground.
