1 stabbed dead over trifling matter in Kishoreganj

Kishoreganj: A man was stabbed to death and two others were injured in an attack allegedly by their rivals over a trifling matter in Kishoreganj sadar upazila on Saturday, police said.
The deceased was identified as Manjil Miah, 45, son of late Bachhir Uddin while the injured are his brother’s wife Asma Akter, 45, and nephew Mizan, 25, of Dampatuli village in the upazila.
Police and locals said Siraj Uddin used to call Mizan, owner of a poultry farm, a thief. An altercation broke out between them over the matter at the poultry farm on Friday afternoon.
As a sequel to the altercation, a group of miscreants attacked Mizan’s uncle Manjil with locally-made sharp weapons just before beginning of arbitration over the Friday’s incident, they said.
Manjil sustained severe injuries in the attack while his sister-in-law and nephew were also injured as they tried to save him, they stated.
The injured were rushed to Shahid Syed Nazrul Islam Medical College Hospital where physicians de-clared Manjil dead upon arrival while the rest are now receiving treatment, said Mohammad Daud, of-ficer-in-charge of Sadar Model Police Station.
Though no case has so far been filed in this connection, drives are on to arrest the suspects , the OC add-ed.
