Nilphamari: Two children of a family died from electrocution in Sadar upazila of Nilphamari district on Sunday.
The deceased –Lima Akter, 9, daughter of Towhidul Islam and Arif Hossain, 7, son of Enamul Hoque, were residents of Paschim Kuchiyarmor Dolapara village of the upazila.
Quoting the family members, police said Lima first got electrocuted when she touched one of the fences that got electrified when a snapped electric wire fell on the house, they said.
Noticing this, when Arif tried to save paternal cousin Lima he also electrocuted.
Later, they were rushed to Nilphamari General Hospital where physicians declared them dead, said Sadar police station’s Officer-in-charge Khan Mohammad Shahriar.
The bodies were handed over to the family and an unnatural death case was filed in this regard, the OC said.
