Sylhet: Two children drowned in a pond at Beanibazar upazila of Sylhet on Monday.
The incident happened in Kachtula Jame Masjid Pond around 12 pm on Monday. Devdulal Dhar,officer-in-charge of Beanibazar Police Station, confirmed the matter.
The deceased were identified as Abdullah Tawsif, 6, of Kachtul village under the Mollapur union of the upazila, and his cousin Nura, 5, of the same area, he said.
On infirmation, the bodies were recovered and handed over to the family members without a post-mortem, said the OC.
Tawsif and Nura went out of their class at 11:30 am after informing their madrashah teacher. Later, lo-cals found their bodies floating in the pond after almost 30 minutes. Then they were taken to Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared them dead.
