‘Drug trader’ killed in ‘gunfight’

Cox's Bazar: A suspected drug trader was killed in a reported gunfight between two groups at Dakhshin Len-gurbil adjacent to the Bay of Bengal in Teknaf upazila early Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Farid Alam, 30, son of Prokash Md Alam, a resident of the area.
On information about a gunfight between two groups of Yaba traders, a team of police conducted a drive in the area around 4 am, said Pradip Kumar Das, officer-in-charge of Teknaf Model Police Station.
Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, the drug traders fled the scene.
Later, the police team recovered the body, two locally-made arms and 10,000 pieces of Yaba tablets from the spot, the OC added.
