The High Court on Wednesday asked the Health Secretary to publish a gazette notification within two months on the guidelines to provide emergency health services to the injured victims of road accidents and protecting their aides.
An HC bench of Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed and Justice Farid Ahmed passed the order following a writ peti-tion.
Advocate Rashana Imam, Anita Gazi Rahman and Sharmin Akter stood for the petitioner while deputy attor-ney general Kazi Zinat Haq represented the state.
Advocate Sharmin Akter said following the court order, all the hospitals will have to provide emergency health services to the injured victims of road crash.
Bangladesh Legal Aid Service Trust (Blast) and Syed Saifuddin Kamal filed a writ petition in 2016 as different hospitals in the country refuse to provide emergency treatment to the injured victims of road accidents.
After primary hearing, the HC on February 10, 2016 issued a rule asking the hospital authorities to explain as to why they should not be directed to provide emergency health services to the injured victims in road crash.
Besides, the HC also asked to submit a progress report on the emergency steps ensuring health services at all hospitals and medical centers as per the National Road Safety Plan 2014-16 within three months.
