DHAKA- Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today urged the Muslim countries to be united on the question of just rights of Palestine.

"We want that the Muslim countries and Ummah to be united so that the Palestinians get their just rights," she said when a journalist drew her attention to US President Donald Trump's recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel at a press conference.

The press conference was convened to brief the media about the outcome of the premier's just-concluded visit to Cambodia.

Trump reversed decades of U.S. policy on Wednesday by recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, imperiling Middle East peace efforts and upsetting the Arab world and Western allies alike.

The prime minister said the declaration made by Trump on Jerusalem is not acceptable to anyone of the Islamic World.

She said there is a UN resolution on Jerusalem and steps should be taken according to the resolution. "It seems that none will accept its non-compliance," she said.

The prime minister said the Palestinians have a right and their own state will have to be recognized.

She said the territory that was created with East Jerusalem as its capital after the 1967 war should exist. Taking any unilateral decision by declaring Jerusalem as the Israeli capital will create unrest in the entire world, she said.

Sheikh Hasina said the United States started peace process in the Middle East and Noble Peace Prize was given for it. "But this peace process was pushed towards the path of unrest which is not desirable," she said.
