The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) saw positive trend in early hours of trading on Sunday as investors remained active on sector-specific stocks especially from banks.
Within first one hour of trading, DSEX, the benchmark index of DSE, rose over 24.17 points or 0.39 percent to 6,217.73 at 11:30 am.
The two other indices also edged higher. The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advanced 2.13 points or 0.15 percent to stand at 1,343.42.
The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, also gained 8.69 points or 0.38 percent to stand at 2,252.79 points.
Trade deals stood at 42,933 with volume of transactions at Tk 2,876 million.
Of the issues traded till then, 137 advanced, 113 declined and 42 remained unchanged.
Shahjalal Islami Bank Ltd was the most traded stocks with shares worth Tk 182.77 million changing hands till then followed by BRAC Bank, Western Marine Shipyard, Dhaka Bank and City Bank.
The port city bourse - Chittagong Stocks Exchange (CSE) - also witnessed upward trend in early hours with its Selective Category Index gaining 40.33 points to 11,658 also at 11:32 am.
Of the issues traded till then, 62 gained, 58 declined and 18 remained unchanged with a turnover value of Tk 115.55 million.
