Aussies take 16-run lead at tea with 5 wks in hand

tiger-testChittagong: The Tigers took three wickets while the Aussies collected 96 in 31 overs at tea on the 3rd day to take a16-run lead in the 1st innings of the 2nd Test at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium on Wednesday.
In reply to Bangladesh's 305 runs, Australia resumed the 1st innings after the washout of the day's 1st session due to rain with overnight score of 225/2 in 64 overs and were batting on at tea collecting 321/5 in 95 overs.
Mehedi Hasan Miraz sent back Hilton Cartwright (18 off 28b; 2x4; 1x6) who was caught by Soumya Sarkar in the last ball of the 2nd session while Maxwell (25*) is in the crease.
David Warner, who hit a century of 112 runs in the 2nd innings of the Dhaka Test, was out hammering another century of 123 off 234 balls, including seven boundaries, at 298/4 in 87.4 overs.
Birthday boy Mustafizur Rahman took Warner's with a great catch assistance of Imrul Kayes at leg gully.
Earlier, the Tigers got the first breakthrough as the Aussies overnight batsman Peter Handscomb fell victim of run out at 250/3 in 73.3 overs.
All-rounder Nasir Hossain delivered to overnight David Warner who worked the ball towards square leg from where all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan picked up the ball and hit the stumps directly at the bowler's end for a terrific knock. Handscomb stayed for 82 off 144 balls, including six boundaries.
After the departure of Handscomb, Glenn Maxwell came to crease and paired with Warner in the 4th stand.
Overnight 3rd pair between Warner and Handscomb contributed 152 runs in 45.2 overs, starting from 98/2 in 28.1 overs after the departure of skipper Steven Smith on the 2nd day.
Wet outfield after persistent rain in the port city in the morning washed out the first session of the day.
