hanifAwami League Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif MP on Sunday alleged that BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia started dirty politics over the recent landslides in Chittagong region by spreading hatred against the government.
"The BNP chief started dirty politics by spreading spite, falsehood and sordid words against the government over landslides in Chittagong hilly areas sitting before iftar everyday," he told Parliament taking floor on point of order.
"Begum Khaleda Zia said that Prime Minister went on a pleasure trip to Sweden. But I wondered how she, who claims herself a three-time Prime Minister, can call the official visit of Prime Minister as a pleasure trip.
People think such remark is tantamount to ignorance," Hanif said.
Sweden is the first country in Europe that gave recognition to the Independence of Bangladesh and Prime Mi-nister went there at the invitation of Swedish Prime Minister, he added.
The AL leader said the government and Awami League stood beside the people of the landslide-ravaged areas and took all necessary measures for them immediately after the disaster. Trust was restored among the affected people due to prompt steps taken by government and Awami League, he added.
Hanif also called upon the people to be vocal against such dirty politics of Khaleda Zia.
Criticising Khaleda Zia, he said some two lakh people were killed in 1991 cyclone during the regime of BNP, but Khaleda Zia went to the affected area four days later. People did not forget Khalea Zia's remark that the number of dead victims in the 1991 cyclone was not so higher than what was earlier thought, Hanif said.
